Style Advice From a 79 Year Old Lady

At 79 years old Joyce has a lifetime of advice to share. Listen to her wonderful tips in the video above. Let me know what your favorite piece of advice was,I’d love to hear your feedback.
1.”Gloves they make an outfit, if it’s the right glove it can do everything for you.”
2.”Getting a good black dress that you can fix up with different wonderful colored scarves.”
3.”Marvelous Jewelry, it doesn’t have to be real or expensive, a strand of pearls can make an outfit.”
4.”A wonderful large fiocco, a beautiful bow or boa.”
5.” The right neckline, if you have a beautiful Décolletage then by all mean shows it.”
6. “I look for the brightest colors in shoes, don’t be afraid to wear them with a dark dress. A bright scarf and shoes and gloves of the same color will stand out against the black background of a dress or suit.”
7. ”The older you get the more elegance you want, you can use great color, but in an elegant way.”
8.”Don’t be afraid to be unique to be different.”
9.”Fishnet stockings, Incredible.”
10. “The real secret is being in love with life and realizing what you have.”
  • I can't believe she is 79… her advice and style is timeless.

Thank you Joyce. I will keep buying those brightly coloured shoes!

  • I JUST discovered you and your blog! I am going to go pour myself a cup of coffee and spend some time here!
Have a PRETTY ( handsome for you!) day!

  • Well yesterday I painted my fingernails bright purple just to get in the flow of things and I actually felt better. She is a grand woman. You really find the best Ari. Thanks for sharing. Have a great week.

  • The suggestion to keep your weight down is absolutely on target. Looking over your past posts, having a great figure gives one much more flexibility in wardrobe choices. Not to mention the health benefits if you keep the weight down in a healthy way. My favorite book on this is Gary Taubes "Why We Get Fat". The next best comment Joyce made is to be elegant.

She has beautiful skin, I wonder what her skincare regimen is? (Other than having good genes).

  • WOW! Joyce is pure CLASS.

  • Hi, I just recently found this blog, which I just love! It's so great to see (and hear, on occasion) all of these beautiful elders with wonderful style!! My favorite piece of advice is the black dress/colorful accessories idea. Thanks for posting about these lovely people.

  • I just wish I could remember all of that. I'm going to copy it. Thanks.

Joyce is so elegant from her lovely speaking voice to her gestures. Her advice about style is right on target. What I love best about her is her delight in presenting a beautiful and interesting look. This is especially important as we age.

  • I also just stumbled upon your blog – it is wonderful!

    Beautiful and such timeless advice.

  • Getting older takes courage that you can't imagine while you're still young – I find your blog and the advice from these wonderful women to be inspiring and helpful at finding that positive attitude, and to discover that you can develop flair and fun in aging that you might not have had enough character for in one's younger years. I will be looking for some colourful shoes!

  • She is beautiful
    After viewing
    my next birthday of 77
does not bother me at all…

  • The best tip was "keep your weight in check". When I look at all the great ladies on your blog, this is one thing that has struck me over and over again. They have all "kept their weight in check" and stayed fit.

I also liked her advice about, the older you get, the more important elegance becomes.

  • Love your blog. These ladies are inspiration to us.

  • nice article!

can't wait to read next one 🙂

Ari – just a thought: your voice is very easy to hear, Joyce's not so much. I notice sometimes on videos the microphone could be closer to the women. Don't want to miss a word!

YOU are as fabulous as they are! I love every bit of this blog!

  • Wow what a wonderful blog and what a wonderful idea from a young man to give the real ladies a chance to show that age is not more than a word. Thank you!

  • wow! she looks so fabulous!!

  • It is a pleasure to watch and listen to this beautiful, charming, creative, innovative, graceful woman. And she is so well spoken.

This has struck me many times when I have watched your videos: How well spoken the women are. Just as they compose an outfit in a perfect and imaginative way, so they also seem to compose their sentences in the same perfect manner — and the total effect — I suppose one can call it "elegance".

  • I'm in love with your blog! Just found it today. Hands down – #8 & #10. You're a smart guy Mr. Cohen. You get to meet some fabulous folks!

…..enjoyed very much…..elegant and beautiful woman thank you Ari for the great job you do…..we love you for it!!!

  • great advice, I fully agree.

  • I love her idea of showing a décolleté. She is such a seductive lady!

  • Joyce is divine. Her gestures and way of speaking remind me of a ballerina. Love her idea of the bright colored shoes. How does she keep her skin so beautiful?

    She's an inspiration to watch.

I'm rather late on this one but had to write anyway. Joyce is an extremely beautiful woman who is full of grace in every sense of the word.
But its her hair that has me intrigued. I'd be very interested to know if she has always worn it this way & more importantly (for me), how is it done?
It is, in her case, with her gorgeous skin & gentle ways, her most extraordinary accessory. In terms of style, I've always believed that it isn't the clothes or the purchased accessories, it's maximizing what you already have & then getting dressed.
