Fight Invisibility

Last night I had my final book signing at The American Book Center in Amsterdam. In the last two months I have traveled from Geneva back to New York, to London, Glasgow, Paris and now Amsterdam. I am overwhelmed by the amazing feedback I have received from people who have purchased my book. Thank you to everyone who I have met, who has told me how much The Advanced Style Ladies mean to you.

I started the blog in order to change people’s perception of aging and show that there is much fun to be had once you reach 80, 90 and 100 years old. Women often tell me that after 40 they have started to feel invisible. Throughout the last two months young girls have reached out to tell me that they look forward to growing old like the Advanced Style Ladies. Older women have commented that my photos have given them the permission to dress up and feel good about themselves. I am so grateful for the impact the book is having on everyone and have to give credit to my own incredible grandmothers. I know the ladies and gentleman that I meet have surely changed my perspective on aging and given me something to look forward to.

Let’s all work together and continue to FIGHT INVISIBILITY .

  • Bravo! Marvelous message for all women.

  • Es impresionante como logras que tus modelos de cierta edad sean originales, vayan a la moda y muestren casi siempre una gran sonrisa. Enhorabuena

  • Ari, You are Mr. Wonderful!!!! You gave me the courage to start my own blog and learn how to take photos of myself. I would never had dared to do that if you had not started the ball rolling. Now look at you……a well deserved celebration for your wonderful work in getting your message out there.

  • Ho w wonderful Ari that you have touched so many people. My heart goes out to all of you.

  • Bravo! These women are amazing.

  • I noticed this beautiful lady in Amsterdam too. I sat in the audience of the meet and greet in the abc treehouse. IMO you have initiated a very empowering international wave. I loved it to see so many really young women in the audience. I'm middle aged now, and it's true, the older you get the better you feel on the inside. Why not show it on the outside to get rid of the invisibility. Show the way…

  • Dear Ari, your post today gave me goosebumps! I am so thrilled for you, and the women of the world…
I received the e-mail that your documentary is really happening, and I am telling everyone about it…I am so excited!!
Thank you so much for all you do…

Ari, you and the beautiful people featured here, are true inspirations – as a 37 year old woman looking down the barrel of 40 and wondering how to style myself and age beautifully, I have a pretty good idea thanks to you.

Kudos to you for recognising these amazing people.

I really hope that when I reach my 40s, I've allowed myself to have such a fabulous style as some of those you've featured.

Instead of Black & White, it will be Color!

  • You are by far the coolest lady! You are charismatic, passionate and so fabulous!! In my books that's true beauty…

    Love India x

Please take a look at my art and illustrations and let me know what you think!:

  • Just how many issues there are we tend to overlook. And there are always those who look, but can't see. I have the book and I'm looking forward the movie to come out. Aging is such a difficult issue that you tackle with such a finesse and lighthearted approach.

You teach us how we can look at ourselves later in life and have no fear or at least less fear. I'm grateful to you for that.

  • Ann

nice photo, i love your blog!:)

  • sandy

I find it disheartening that your passion appears to be more visible in Europe.

Why not here at home with our media outlets?

    Oprah are you listening??????
maybe her team will google and find this post….

  • I tend to love black and white clothing, so of course not a surprise i love your ensemble.

Do you have a link for the jacket? I'm intrigued.

Glad to have found your blog.

  • I love this post so much! And i was delighted seeing this woman and all of the others, young and old, at the signing. Much admiration!

  • That is so nice! I'm going to read this post for my mom. She very afraid of some fashion things and prefer to be invisible..BUT usually complains that father doesn't notice her. May be this is the secret? She just needs to change her invisible her style on something as you wear, Lady. First i will start from mom's eyeglasses and buy some new designer sunglasses for her. May be it will help her to see her next fashion step!

  • like her smile so much.

  • It breaks my heart that anyone would feel invisible after 40. Your site and photography is quite an inspiration. Everyone has something to offer and we must embrace people who are wiser, smarter and can give us the best possible advice on living.

  • That is awesome style, more like Veronica Hearst style.

  • That's a fabulous outfit, and the lady certainly looks like she has fun wearing it!

BTW, have you seen this lady on Hel Looks?
    Very classic!

  • I agree that for some reason western society tends to shove it's elder members to the side instead of valuing and admiring them. The wonderful women that grace your blog give us all much pause for thought. It certainly has encouraged me to re-find my sense of style again in my late 40's. I now feel fantastic when I walk down the street and once again hold my head up. Thank you for seeking out such inspiring folk.
