East Village, NYC

I was walking to an appointment in my neighborhood when I passed this elegant woman. I quickly turned around, crossed the street and asked if I could take her photograph. She nodded in approval and continued on her way. Although we didn’t exchange any words, I am so glad she stopped to let me take her photograph and look forward to running into her again in the  neighborhood.

  • love the hat and yes she is quite elegant!!!

  • Wonderful!

  • Lovely 🙂

  • I love the photos you take and how you are preserving the elegance and charm of aging. There is a beauty in growing old gracefully . . . I see it in my friends and I hopefully express it in my life. I want to do my part to make people realize that aging is a passage in life to be appreciated. Not just by the person going through it, but also my those that are wise enough to glean from our wisdom.
Each new day brings with it a beauty of it's own. Life is good!

  • Beautiful! I wonder how old she is? My mom is 92 so I often inhabit the world of the "older woman". My mom is a beautiful one too. Thanks for raising awareness around these beauties and for reminding us older and beautiful can go hand in hand.

wow! WHat a face. Great photo too. Lara

  • She is indeed chic, in her own understated way.

  • There is a quiet elegance about her and understated self-
assurance…She makes me feel like everything is gonna be alright 🙂

  • Amazing looks.

    Good morning Ari,

I am sure you will have multiple posts today from those of us who are aging and left out of the media and heard you on NPR. Bless your heart. Style is something important to me within my budget, and I will be 60 next year. I expect to be around until about 96 or 7. All of the magazines out there stop addressing clothing and style by the 50's. When yours, surely you are planning print media?, debuts I want a subscription.
Do you know a song by John Prine called "Hello in There?"
Again, bless your heart and thank you for noticing.

I am 100% sure she is some Polish Jewess. I can see that in her face.
